Ye Olde Blog Post

I love this time of year.  We were lucky to have several beautifully cool and sunny weekends this October, which were absolutely perfect for outdoor fall activities.  One gorgeous Saturday, Nate and I headed up to The Ohio Renaissance Festival with some of our best friends in the world.  We anticipated that it would be a funny way to spend the day, but I don't think we realized just how awesome it would be.  I kind of want to live at the Ren Faire now.

Okay, so I think the "educational" aspect of the renaissance festival may be a bit overblown, but it was a ton of fun.

Have you ever been to a ren fest?  What did you think of it?

Have a good Wednesday!

Oh my word! I've never been to one but I've always wanted to go! I say "huzzah" all the time and no one ever understand what it means. Maybe my huzzahing will one day be celebrated with festival folk ;-) Great photos, it looks like you guys had a grand time!

I live 15 minutes from that same one! Growing up in the area, we were forced to go there for school field trips every year, so it wasn't so cool then. But I'd love to go again! Is that a giant fried turkey leg in his hand??

This looks like so much fun! (and that turkey leg made my mouth water.) I love any kind of festival. I need to find out if there is a renaissance festival somewhere in IL!

thanks for sharing!

Looks like it was the perfect day for it! I went for the first time this year and had so much fun, loved the kitchiness of the whole thing. It was also the first time I had chocolate wine (so very authentic, I'm sure) so that was amazing -- and made the whole experience even better.

Everyone should go - they are ridiculously fun!

Melissa, I didn't realize that we lived so close to one another! That must mean that you live near Waynesville. Have you ever been antiquing there? It's amazing!

Yes, that most certainly is a giant fried turkey leg. One of my biggest disappointments was that there was no veggie alternative to the turkey leg - I had to settle for a pretzel and a funnel cake.

Isabel, chocolate wine? I have to admit, that sounds horrible! Was it good?

Popped back in to say chocolate wine is delicious! I can't remember the name of the one I tried at the Ren Fair, but the goods ones usually don't have the alcohol taste and leave a fruity finish. Also good: 1/2 chocolate beer mixed with raspberry cider. I could go on and on but I won't, haha.
