Hello there, Lurkers!

hello to lurkers

Happy Monday, everyone!  Today I want to reach out to a special group here on OPB - the lurkers!  More and more people are subscribing every single day, and I want to get to know you.  One of my absolute favorite things about blogging is the community.  The time I can devote to reading blogs is limited, so I don't get to jump from blog to blog and discover new reads as often as I'd like, but I do always make the time to visit the blogs of everyone who comments on OPB.  In fact, a huge portion of my google reader is made up of blogs that I first discovered through comments left here.  Whether you have your own blog or not, lurkers, come out of the woodwork and say hello!

So let's get to know each other, shall we?  Here are three things you might not know about me:

1. I'm extremely superstitious.  I knock on wood dozens of times a day, and believe that my head (or someone else's head) is a perfectly good substitute if there's no wood nearby.  I can't fly without the evil eye bracelet that was a gift from my friend E, and I always make a wish when I see the clock at 11:11, find a fallen eyelash, catch a piece of tree fluff floating in the air, or notice a shooting star.

2. One of my front teeth is fake.  I was playing a game of softball with my neighbors when I was ten, and I was assigned to be catcher (mostly because I was *really* bad at both batting and running bases.  I was also terrible at catching, but apparently that was less of a concern).  As usual for childhood me, my mind was about a million miles away for most of the game.  Since I wasn't being trusted with much responsibility, that was fine, right up until the pitcher pitched, the batter batted, and I was standing right behind the swing, not paying any attention.  Yup, that was the end of that tooth.  Surprisingly, however, it did not teach me to pay more attention to my surroundings (or maybe, not so surprisingly?).

3. Nate insists that my eyes are blue, but they are actually green.  Okay, a lot of other people also say "blue," but seriously, they are green.  GREEN.  Green, I tell you! I insist that this isn't just related to my childhood desire to be the American Girl Felicity, even though I do now dye my hair red.

Okay, your turn!  Leave three things (or one, or two, or fifteen - whatever!) I don't know about you in the comments.  Or you could even write up your own post and link to it in the comments.  Good times will be had, I promise.

I know this post is specifically addressed to lurkers, but I'd love to hear from those of you that I know, too!

(PS - this post was inspired by Alycia - such a great idea!)

Hi...yeah, I'm one of the lurkers. Not proud of it, but I don't have very much time to comment. >.< But annnnyways. I would love it if my eyes were green. I've got this greyish-blue thing going on, and it's really weird. But you get what you get. So I'm coming out of my lurker corner and saying hi - I'm Audrey. I'm fourteen years old, and, as a random sidenote, I absolutely love your blog. :)

Oh first one out.

3 things not everyone knows about me!

1. I make noises in my sleep. All of them, not at the same time, i do one for some months and then i change etc. I range from snoring, grinding teeth til talking and drooling.

2. Im very afraid to get hurt. PA in school, soo cautius etc. I broke my "no-stiches-in-my-body" last year by removing two moles.

3. I played the clarinette as a kid. All i know now is "when the saints"

Your blog is such an inspiration!

Let's see, three things...

1)I want to design and knit a life-sized human skeleton at some point in my life. Others have done it (in fact, I have a picture of one in a yoga pose on my computer at work), but I want to do it for myself. I feel it's the only project that can truly meld my love of forensic anthropology and knitting.

2) I really like to cook for people who will be impressed. I get nervous cooking for someone who is an excellent cook (like my grandfather, my mother, and few of my friends). I prefer to show off a little to my friends who will think my skills are magical, rather than mundane (which they most certainly are). Is that vain? Probably. I'm going to just say I know my limitations and that my favorite part about cooking is watching people truly enjoy what I cooked and if they are telling me the improvements they would have made to the dish, I don't get that satisfaction. See? Not a small person living for flattery; rather, a generous soul trying to light up the palettes of others with the best of her (admittedly limited) culinary skills. Anywaymovingon...

3)I am working on a project with my grandfather to write his memoirs. His father immigrated from Lebanon and he grew up in Detroit during the 20's and 30's, fought in World War II, and opened a successful restaurant. Needless to say he has some fantastic stories that I'm looking forward to hearing and getting down on paper. It is the single most exciting thing going on in my life currently because it is a very, very exciting thing.

Ok, lurking done! I'm out and about in the comments now. :) And I chipped my front tooth on the wall of a swimming pool, so I feel your pain.

Ahaha - guilty! But now I'm out of the woodwork :)

1. I have a scar on my hand from an epic battle with a hardcover book.

2. The smell of campfires is one of my favorite scents ever.

3. I've dyed my hair so many times and colors (including red, red red, dark brown, and pink) that I no longer remember what color it actually is ^^

Hmmm, can't remember if I have commented on your blog in the past or not, but I always enjoy it! Let's see, three things...
1) I bought a whole bag of "on sale" yarn today that I have no idea what I will use it for and have already hidden it so my now-knitting daughters won't steal it.
2) Third daughter is about to enter the world in a couple of weeks and I wish she would HURRY UP so I can return to breathing like a normal person.
3) I have a serious cheese addiction.
There you have it, officially de-lurked!

I am a lurker... My work blocks a lot of the comment systems so I can't post.
About me:
1. I went as a Polaroid picture for Halloween!
2. I have craft supplies in approximately 12 drawers in four different rooms of my house.
3. I want rubber rain boots very badly!

I hardly ever leave comments, but here I go:

1. Essie is a nickname. I could not pronounce my L's as most children so I called myself Essie. My Dad still calls me by this name to this day.

2. Homemade macaroni and cheese is my absolute favorite thing to eat.

3. I want a remote control truck so that I can race my husband on his homemade track.

Have a great day!

I'm a newish DIY blogger and have been a lurker only due to heinous time management skills, but I love your blog and am trying to get my ish together so I can contribute to and enjoy the blogosphere a whole lot more! Right quick:

1. I'm a bit of a DIY masochist, e.g., I will sometimes choose to sew a big project by hand, even when the machine is the best route.

2. Weird favorite childhood snack: pickled green apples.

3. I recently quit a stressful job and moved out of the country for a year to pursue my own projects, and it's been the scariest and most fulfilling move of my life!

I LOVE lists, and pretty much run my life by them, however short or long or organized or not. SO I can probably sum me up in the form of my "New Year's Resolutions":

1.Start wearing a fanny Pack.
2.No retail shopping, other than unmentionables or socks, for the year!If I really need it, I can probably make it myself.
3.Teach my kids how to sew.
4.Read. A lot.
Your blog is fun to follow! Thanks for callin' us out from behind the screen! :)

Yep, I'm a lurker. :P I tend to do this on a lot of blogs...typically since I don't have the time to comment.But I do try!! ^^
Lemme see...three things about me:
1. I want to go to school to study Constitutional law (I have this huge, romantic ambition to uphold all of America's founding principles).
2. I have been homeschooled ALL my life. Most people wonder how I survived...hehehe. And I want to homeschool any children I may have someday. But no, I don't want to be a teacher.
3. I have a total of five bookcases shoved into my tiny room. And they're all filled. I've made myself promise not to buy anymore books until I've finished reading all the ones on my shelves. And I do tend to judge them by their covers...sometimes with good results, other times, not so much.

whew -- that's probably the longest comment I've ever written!(;

Oh guilty Im a big lurker! Haha i love the idea of finding out quirky details about people I dont know, makes me feel like Im not as strange as i think i am.
Ok my list
1. I love being associated with things... example:church, school, groups. But secretly love to be invisible in them.
2. I started sewing because the immediate gratification from shopping no longer worked, and sewing made me more proud that i made it myself.
3. I really want to start canning, and went out and bought everything for it (books, cans, fruit, pectin) and havnt gotten around to it because the process seems to long ha!
4.I am a young mom of 4 and now that my youngest is a year away from full time school, i am terrified with what that means for me, i mean anxiety hyper ventilating terrified....
Other than that the list can go on and on
Loved reading everyone elses :)

Hmmm...permission to blather on about myself as an acceptable response to a blog post? O-KAY!!!

1) I'm over-the-moon in love with a little Yorkshire terrier that I adopted a month ago. She's absurdly cute, scratches for attention, and can TOTALLY shiver at will when she wants to make me feel guilty.

2) I am working on a grant-funded research project about the cut paper art of Hans Christian Andersen...and will be illustrating my own version of the Steadfast Tin Soldier. Not for publication, just 'cause.

3) Before I was born, the doctor thought I was twins. My mother told the first graders at the school where she worked that I was going to be a pony. Maybe that's why I've grown up a little strange?...

Hi! I'm definitely a lurker, but I think I've commented for a couple of contests you've had. In fact, I almost delurked myself when you first posted about the Cape Cod pancakes, but I refrained out of shyness. I'm glad a lot of other people asked, though, and I plan on making them with my monsieur this weekend!

1st fact: Not about me, but my monsieur has a similar green-blue battle that you do over eye color! His mother insists they're blue, but trust me--they're green.

2nd fact: My friend and I just started our own fashion blog. I've been a big fan of bloggers such as yourself, so I've convinced her to go in on one with me.

3rd: I'm applying to grad school soon (whenever I get over my phobia of applying for graduate school, that is) and I'm super nervous about it.

3. am hankering for a childless holiday, one day. who isn't?

I liked reading everyone's lists ^_^ I am indeed a lurker, I only comment if I feel I have something original to add, which most of the time I don't. (I only have "wow - that's awesome!") So, about me ...

1. I am a fast reader. I've never timed myself (like, with a stopwatch or with any kind of accuracy), but on the weekend I read two 500 page books in a couple of hours each. It's kinda good, but also kinda bad as I am always looking for more to read.

2. I don't eat chicken, or eggs. I'm not a vegetarian, or a vegan. I eat beef, pork, lamb, and fish; I just can't stand the smell or the taste of fowl products (lol punz!). I know it's weird - especially because chicken seems to be the thing that "everybody eats" so they provide heaps of it at work functions and parties >_<

3. I love my eyes ^_^ (so vain!) They are blue (my husband thinks they are green though ...) with a yellow ring around the pupil and brown spots in the iris. My mum has the brown spots as well, but I've never met anyone else with the yellow ring. Hello, anyone out there? ^_^

oh this is fun!

1. i have difficulties remembering names, but i rarely forget a face. i would still recognize most of the people who were in my high school in my final year (not just my year, the whole school). on the other side, i tend to go fairly unnoticed and people don't always remember me.

2. i'm very uncomfortable around small flames, like matches and lighters. bonfires are no problem though. cigarettes near me make me paranoid as well.

3. i'm an extremely messy person, but my cd collection is very neatly organized: alphabetically, with albums by the same artist in order of their release date.

Ha! I'm a lurker, too. I love your blog!
1. By day I'm an art historian and I teach. I think that's one reason why I love your blog and the fact that you are an archeologist.
2. I was born a month late. My mother's due date was Halloween but I wasn't born until Thanksgiving!
3. I got married on an island with just my husband and three strangers as witnesses and it was perfect.

I shall lurk no more!!

Hi Alli!

1. I have a sad little blog I have updated 2 times in 2 years, so lurking must be part of my personality. I just prefer to absorb rather than dispense inspiration.

2. I just got a serger this weekend! it's a second-hand bernette my grandmother found for me and it is kicking my butt!

3. I went to school for studio art, and I have all but abandoned drawing and painting in favor of making and sewing.

Enough Lurking!

1. Lurking is such a fun word to say. I also really like to say the word clerestory (in reference to high windows), though no so suprisingly, it does not come up in conversation too often.

2. I have been 'quasi' struck by lightning. The summer after I graduated from High School, I worked at a summer day care. It was about to start raining and the kiddos were lined up by the chain link fence. I was holding onto the gate about to open it when lighting hit a nearby water tower causing electricity to flow through the ground and up the fence I was holding.

3. I always swore I'd never live anywhere cold. I just moved to Cincinnati a few months ago. Never say never.

HI! Shucks... I'm a lurker... But a relatively new one to this blog in my defense. So I'll grant you your wish and leave you 3 things about me.

1. I went to a boarding school for high school, which is strange for the Midwest.

2. I have a bald spot the size of a dime on my scalp because when I was 16 I was too cool to wear a helmet.

3. I have an absurd love of rocks, garden gnomes, and yarn... all of which can be found in my apartment.

I am a complete lurker! I don't follow many blogs but came across yours on stumbleupon. I was drawn in by the fact that you're an archaeologist and go to Italy all the time - my dream job! Some things about me:

1. I'm an Aussie :)
2. I'm studying Ancient History at Macquarie University in Sydney and am travelling to Italy next June for my first overseas holiday
3. I am the most organised person you'll ever meet. List and labelled things make me happy and calm.

I'll try to comment more in the future!

I have just started commenting more, but here we go!

1. I can perform a hold up Russian.

2. I am a closet mycology enthusiast.

3. You are largely responsible for my deep desire to adopt a rescue greyhound.

As always, I love your blog, it is a wonderful inspiration!

I'm totally a lurker because I'm shy and also sometimes I bookmark things, intending to comment on them, and then forget about them later. But I love your blog! I'm also a Cincinnatian, and your amazing crafts/thrifting/DIY are an inspiration.

Three things about me:

1) I'm an aspiring published novelist, working on my fifth (the first four were so bad they barely count) novel in hopes of submitting it soon.

2) I hoard craft supplies like fabric and yarn but I hard ever do any crafting. :(

3) I'm obsessed with animation and my sister and I currently have a blog in progress where we watch and critique Disney movies from a feminist point of view. I'm kind of ridiculously excited about it.

I wasn't going to comment (and continue lurking, even on a post about lurking!) but then Emma's comment about you being an archaeologist made me think I should post.

1. I'm an archaeologist too! Sorta. My dissertation is not going to involve any digging, but my degree is in archaeology.

2. I did my study abroad in Italy, and sometimes looking at your pictures makes me wonder why I don't do my research there still.

3. I have tear ducts in my eyebrows. Sound weird? My sister- in-law has it too! You can't tell except that sometimes I get tiny spots of salt buildup.

I don't consider myself a lurker, just a quiet follower!
a little about me... let's see...
1. I work part time at a non-profit and am working on my master's degree in art history full time.
2. I have a blog of my own but it's mostly just a pity party and I rarely update it.
3. I have a long list of DIY projects waiting for my attention, but I just don't have time between work and school so I live vicariously through cheerful, creative, regularly updated blogs like yours!

I hate to read.

I think I have technically commented on your blog before, but not much and it's been awhile, so I think I still count as a lurker.

1. I own a black and red Vespa scooter, which I sometimes talk to while I'm driving.

2. After years of school, including a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences, I am not doing anything with my degree and am instead trying to make a living from my Etsy shop.

3. Until last year I had lived my whole life on the West Coast (Oregon and California). Now I live in Cambridge, MA, and I can't wait until I can move back West.

I am a habitual lurker. But I really love your content and keep trying to de-lurk myself, why not start here?

I'm Jessie, and I like knitting and taking pictures and tattoos and cooking and general geekery.

I want to teach English lit in a public school, and I want to live in Italy (again). I'm trying to figure out how to do both these things.

I love candy corn.

I almost never comment on any blog posts, mostly because I read them in google reader and it's too much trouble!

I'm studying music ed. and classics, so I really enjoy your posts about your archaeology (but also the other stuff!)

I have two goldfish who live on my desk (because my roommate had goldfish until she graduated and moved to Oregon, so now I have goldfish), and I always feel like a terrible person when I come in and turn the light on at night and wake them up, because they don't have eyelids.

I own one very beat up pair of hi-top converse, which were originally white, but I tie-dyed them.

lurking sounds just so creepy!
lets do away with it and just be friends.
hi. it's lovely to meet you.

(1) my name is cori and i'm a girl with a boy name. or at least thats how i've always seen it. no its not short for corinne or corina or any other version - just cori. i was named after a baseball player who was famous in the eighties - i don't know anything about him, except he had a mullet. ew. but i've come to love my little name because its so unique and i couldn't bear to be like anyone else!
(2) i'm also very superstitious - whenever i travel or someone who is close to me travels i have to, have to, have to, wear my saint anthony, saint christopher, and miracle metals even though i'm not very catholic. but goodness do i love a good saint.
(3) i love and hate words. i love words in the way that they can bridge gaps between people - so i learned to speak spanish and italian for the hell of it. but i hate words - because they are sometimes disgusting. no one should ever use the words: moist, ointment, or congealed. UGH.
(4) i'm really freaked out by bunnies... oh and birds. i have no idea why.
(5) i love difference... difference of all kinds. new places. new adventures. new concepts. i went to college far away from my home in texas because i craved something completely new. and now, being back in texas, all i want to do is to make the most of my current adventure and look forward to the next turn my life will take.

xoxo,
cori

*waves* hello! I am a long-time lurker. But mostly because I don't want to leave inane (though sincere) comments, like "ooh, nice photos" etc.

I do that 11.11-wish thing too! I also touch wood. A lot. So much so that I always carry one of those tiny ikea pencils in my purse, so that I will always have wood to touch, in an "emergency", if there is no wood around!

3 things about me:
- I'm tone deaf, but love to sing. An unfortunate combination for my husband.
- I would love to leave the big bad city and live on a farm, with chickens, ducks, two goats and old donkey and lots of dogs.
- I cheat at snakes and ladders. All the time. It's more fun that way.

Alli! GREAT idea, even if stolen! I'd do it too, but my whole 12 followers are mostly best friends and family. I already know TOO much about THEM. HA! :)

1.) I often think that I need an anonymous blog where I can post what's REALLY on my mind, swear like a trucker and basically say stuff I don't want my mother/husband/children to know about.

2.) I have a strange relationship (no, not like THAT) with a man in Sweden, whom I'm pretty sure is my long-lost, Swedish twin-brother. We make music together via the Internet, and I've never, ever met anyone else with the exact same musical taste as me. He can take any of my words and make absolute MAGIC. My ultimate dreams to visit Sweden and record with him in person, but I highly doubt that it will ever happen. Sad, no?

3.) I married my college Philosophy Professor. That's always a good conversation starter.

OK, I'm not really a lurker, but it's been awhile since I've commented. So I'll play! :)

1. I loathe the word "dollop". It really grosses me out, for some reason.

2. I was named for Hall and Oates' "Sara Smile". I hated my name until I found out my dad chose it because of that song. Now I think it's pretty sweet!

3. I have an anti-green thumb. It's not becaue I lack skill, it's because I get lazy and/or forget about my plants. Whoops!

while i've commented here before, i'm generally a pretty crappy commenter. other facts about me:
1) i'd love to be able to play the bagpipes.
2) i love wrapping presents, but i don't like shiny stuff very much, which has led to me essentially importing wrapping paper and ribbon from trips to sweden and south korea. yeah, i'm cool that way.
3) i have a giant plastic lego head sitting on my piano. because... well, why not?

Hmm, guilty of being a lurker too ;-). I'm Aurélie and I'm following you here in Belgium. I'll try commenting more often on your great posts! I really enjoy reading your blog.

Well, three things about me ...
1. I'm a newcomer in the blogosphere. It's relaxing to read all those crafty blogs, especially when after working on my PhD for a few hours. All those great ideas I'd like to make myself someday - when I'll have the time, that is. For now, working on the PhD is all I'm doing (and that sucks sometimes ...)
2. I have a cat named Maurice. The former owners told me he was a female cat - haha :-). I figured out pretty rapidly that he wasn't, and I had to rename him from Isis to Maurice.
3. I'd love to learn to play an instrument someday. The bagpipes would be so cool, but I think the piano is a more realistic option :-)

Thanks for this great idea!

Awesome! I'm a lurker since I began following blogs here and there after starting my own (yours included, regularly). Here are my 3 things: I am a good cook but I never baked until I joined the Daring Bakers club to force myself to learn (hence the blog: daringbakerduluth.blogspot.com) and now I'm obsessed. I run a skill building center/hobby shop for adults with brain injuries by day. I make art and play with my family by night. Paper cutting, fairy homes, wind chimes and such. My partner and I are looking to start an online monthly theme party art club and if anyone's interested you can find the info on my blog listed above! Thanks and enjoy your days!!

I try to do the 11:11 thing, too. Not only that, I also say "bread and butter" whenever I have to walk around a column, tree, etc., when I'm walking side-by-side with a friend. It's supposed to prevent a fight. Worth it, I think.

Hmmm...3 things...

1. I'm a reference librarian at a 4-year institution of higher learning in Ohio...I used to be an editor for a major children's book publishing company in NYC. That was more than 10 years ago, and I still miss it.

2. I love the peace of spinning, but haven't spun on my wheel in years (no lie).

3. I am completely obsessed with my rescue beastie, Henry. DH loves him more than he'll admit, too, but I think I'm the only one who comes "this close" to crying, imagining the time when Henry dies, every single night when I go to bed. I'm a mess.

and one for the road... i do a lot of the things you mentioned (knock wood, etc.,) but i don't consider myself superstitious. i look at them as traditions, like "bless you" when someone sneezes. i'm pretty sure the soul doesn't leave the body when we sneeze, but not saying it seems rude to me. go figure.
i enjoy your blog!

Lurker... good word for it.

My name is Erin and I believe our world needs a new generation of nursery rhyme-writers (I'm trying to make up for some of the lack myself). I also read and write Latin. And I like to climb pine trees right to the stop so I can sway with the wind.

My blog meanders through my adventures in upcycled crafts and whimsical poetry: http://twilighttreehandicrafts.blogspot.com

I'm a lurker, I admit! I'm not sure why...

Here are three things about me:

1. I love lace and doilies
2. My ultimate comfort food is a bowl of pasta with butter and cheese
3. I crochet so much in the winter that I think I now have RSI. Even that doesn't stop me.

Thanks for helping us lurkers out of the woodwork!

Hey, my reason for lurking is completely reasonable--it's called school. Do you want me to pass math or fail it because I've been typing away on the blog? I'm horrible at math.

Anyway, three unknown facts about me.

1. I suffer from debilitating migraines. The best treatment I've found for them, aside from going to the hospital, is TPT (trigger point therapy.) It's amazing how a series of shots full of steroid and local anesthetic can change your life.

2. My food MUST NOT touch each other. I'm autistic and that's one of my weird quirks. If my chicken touches my spaghetti, I won't eat that chicken or that section of spaghetti. It just freaks me out. Don't ask me why, it's just my thing. In fact, I generally have everything on separate plates or bowls because it drives me nuts.

3. I love to meet people, but I'm incredibly shy and don't trust people easily. I tend to be more open to meeting people if I have my dog, Zena, around than if I'm on my own. I'm not a chatterbox outside of the Internet!

Greetings! I am not quite a lurker, as I'd sent you an email over the summer - but I thought, why not stop by to write a comment today! So here I am.
And as for the "getting to know you" - I will begin with that song!
1. I watched The King and I for the first time in an old colonial cinema, growing up as an American expat in Asia, and inherited *some* of the Humanistic ideals of certain God-fearing colonisers, but this isn't something I would ordinarily discuss, as people jump to conclusions when they hear such things
2. I am afraid to talk about where I'm from and where I've chosen to live for the same reason - people jumping to conclusions
3. Ha ha, now here's something completely different - I still keep a stuffed toy I bought in my early twenties (of a cute version of some kind of dinosaur or such) tucked away in my bed!

I'm a new lurker, only been following you for about a monthish!
I think I'm a lurker mostly because I'm usually so far behind on reading my blogs that I hate to comment a couple of days late, like this... :-)

So, a couple of things about me that aren't common knowledge...
1.) I've never broken a bone or had surgery.
2.) I love decorating websites and looking at decor stuff, but am terrible at making decisions (and spending the money!). I also hate putting holes in my walls, so my house is largely undecorated!
3.) If I could quit my job and go back to school, I would study marine biology.
4.) I'm a fellow Ohioan! We live outside of Columbus.

Have a great day!

Oh! I love this!

Three things about me:

1. I love traveling. I do it whenever I can, with whatever funds I can scrap together. Which means I'm very very poor... But! My goal is to go to as many countries as my age. So far I'm 22 for 22, so that's good. But next February, I'll have to go somewhere new again. I've been to 6 out of the 7 continents, but I bet you can't guess which one I'm missing.

2. My goal is to become an astronaut and go to space. Right now I'm a lowly graduate student in rockets...Give me 5 years, and I'll get there.

3. My favorite place in the world is the library. Doesn't matter where, as long as they have a comfortable chair and a big window. (This might have come from my parents dropping me off at libraries as a child when they went to work.) When I'm there, I'm happy for hours, reading books upon books.

I just discovered your blog today (it's lovely!), so I guess I'm not a lurker but here are my three random facts:

1. I hate being cold, and I do not like the winter months. My mom always finds this funny because I was born during a blizzard.

2. When I need to memorize something I turn it into a song.

3. I dance while I cook,

Hi, I´m Tuuli and I guess I am a lurker too. Have been for quite a while and as you are being here somewhat really sincere and natural, at times I have a feeling like I really know you : )

Anyway, 3 things about me:

1. I just went to a concert in a pub and ordered "rum with cola" and they almost gave me "coffee with milk". Mystyc. Afterwards I just felt like running, so I did run back the whole way.

2. As our washing machine just broke down for good last week then by now I´m quite on the edge of running out clean clothes. So, instead of getting a new washing machine, I´ve discovered that it is much more easier and fun to sew a new t-shirt every night : )

3. Couple of months ago I looked around in my bedroom (which is actually my room in a shared flat) and listed the "femine" things that were lying around there: a windsurfboard and a sail, a snowboard, 2 bikes, 2 building ladders, a kit of electrical screwdrivers, 2 sweing machines, 20 kg of dog food ... and at one night even a chainsaw stood in the middle of the floor.
However, desipite of all this wierd collection of stuff in my room, I still do like wearing skirts aswell : )

I will start lukring around here more often from now.

Hi Alli,
Just discovered your blog but I'm usually a lurker so I guess the term still applies...

1. I love making cards, interior design and writing but I'm not sure I have the talent to make a living out of it. So I work in accounts.

2. It's equally hard for me (i) to turn away from the computer and get some sleep at night and (ii) to wake up in the morning.

3. In quiet and solemn occasions like weddings and speeches, I always have the urge to jump up and do a silly dance.

Have a good week!

I confess - I am a lurker, but I absolutely love reading your blog! I'm from Cincinnati so whenever you talk about my hometown, it makes me feel less homesick for my fam. I've been making notes of all the places you talk about so I'll have some new places to try when I come home to visit next! Love the blog - you have a fantastic writing style.

I am usually a lurker (sorry!) but I might have commented on here once or twice...can't remember. Anyway, I always read your blog! I remember initially liking it because you were honest, straightforward and a newlywed like me. And I just like reading blogs by people that are interesting and fun, which describes you! :)

1. I don't know my right from my left without my rings. I've been wearing a ring on my right hand since I was four, and while the rings have changed, the dependency hasn't. Try letting me drive when I'm ringless...very frustrating for everyone!

2. I can sleep anywhere, anytime. My husband has trouble falling asleep, but I am definitely lucky!

3. I was a gymnast when I was younger, but after my third knee injury, I had to stop. I still miss it!

My husband and I blog about our experiences living, traveling and volunteering in the former Soviet Union at www.seanandmckinze.com.
