I spent the weekend at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, enjoying the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event. This is the third year that we've turned the event into a girls weekend away; it's always one of the highlights of spring!

The cross country ride is my favorite part of the weekend - it's so nice to spend the day outside, relaxing in the grass and watching some amazing riding.

One of our favorite places to watch the riders come through is at the finish line - I love catching their expressions as they cross it!

Sunday morning begun with drinking mimosas and trying on $500 boots at the Dubarry of Ireland booth (yes, the presence of free champagne was our first clue that we were way out of our price range, haha!).
From the shopping area we headed to the warm up ring to catch the riders and horses preparing for the day.

And then it was time for the show jumping!

In the end, Mary King made history by taking home both first AND second place on the two horses she had entered in the competition.

And we rounded out the weekend by taking silly pictures sitting on jumps!

Other than horses, this weekend consisted of vampire movies, many gin & tonics, and an impressive variety of junk food. Pretty much perfect, all around! I came home wanting SO BADLY to start taking riding lessons again (I rode growing up and was on the equestrian team my freshman year of college, before I had to give it up due to time and money constraints), but financially it's not really viable for us right now. Maybe someday!
I hope you had a great weekend, too!

Great pictures! I actually live in Georgetown, KY and get to drive past the Horse Park everyday. It's a beautiful place and I love visiting all the horses.

Horses and friends and junk food, yup, that sounds like the perfect girls' weekend away!! Do you all live near there or just meet up from different states?

Thanks, everyone - it was so much fun! Sarah, we usually have a slightly different group every year - this year three of us came from Cincinnati, and one flew in from Maryland.
