Crafty Supermarket in Review

We had such a great time at the Crafty Supermarket on Saturday!  The vendors were fantastic, the food was amazing (mmm...wood-fired pizza and gelato...), the weather held out, and the crowd was big, without being too overwhelming.  All in all it was a huge success - hooray!

On to the pictures!

Just like the winter Crafty Supermarket, the Polaroid pocket mirrors were a HUGE hit.  People love these!  The divided Pyrex that I use to display them is my mom's (thanks, mom!).

My new postcard display couldn't be simpler - just two cork boards from Ikea, joined together with little hinges and covered in vintage contact paper.  I stuck the postcards on using straight pins with colorful glass heads.  The wire basket came from the thrift store.

One lady asked if she could buy the small vintage suitcase I used to display the 5x5" prints.  Sorry, not for sale!

I completely sold out of two magnet sets and only have a few left of the third.  I'm glad people love these as much as I do!

We got really lucky with our spot this time - we were right in front of a big windowsill and a radiator, both of which I used to organize extra stock and packaging.  We were also next to a door that led to a balcony, so we had lots of fresh air and could step outside if we needed a break.  From it, we were able to see the line stretching all the way around the building before the show opened - oh my goodness!

Of course, one of my favorite parts of the day was meeting internet friends.  It's always so nice to get to know people away from the computer, and to put faces with names.  Meghan, Val, and April, thank you for stopping by!

So what did I learn this time around?  First, I think I need to make a banner for the front of my table - it looks awfully bare.  I'm also going to make a few changes to my packaging - at first glance, people were confused about how many (and which) postcards were inside the packs, and weren't sure what the mirrors were.  A few people told me that I should raise my prices, but I'm pretty happy with them as they are!  I definitely learned that I lovelovelove Square, which allowed me to make quite a few sales that I wouldn't have gotten if I hadn't been able to take credit cards (seriously, if you do craft shows and haven't gotten it yet, do it NOW).

I'm definitely still a baby in the craft show world, but I'm loving the experience and looking forward to doing more.  Next year I might even branch out of Cincinnati and apply for some shows in nearby cities...we'll see!

I hope you had a great weekend too!

Your booth looks fantastic, and it sounds like the day went really well! (I love indie craft fairs like the Crafty Supermarket and Pittsburgh's Handmade Arcade.)

it was great to meet you and Nate! Your booth was very well designed, i thought. Very cohesive and un-cluttered. I thought your prices were very reasonable. You weren't there when I came back by, but I bought a couple of things, and love them very much :)

Hi!

I've been following your blog for over a year now and JUST realized how close you are to me! I was contemplating applying to be a vendor for crafty supermarket.

I most definitely will be applying to do their fall/winter show! I would love to hear more about it as well!

p.s. since you are close to cinci, will you be going to the Midwest Craft Caucus in Columbus? I already bought my pass and booked my room but am looking for someone to split the hotel with me.

Thank you everyone!! It was a great day; being surrounded by so much creativity (and such nice people - both vendors and shoppers) is really inspiring.

Val, Nate told me you stopped by again - I'm sorry that I missed you! Thanks again for saying hello. :)

Meghan, I won't be at the Midwest Craft Caucus, but maybe I'll see you in the fall!

This is honestly the first craft show I have ever been to and it was so convenient being right up the street from my apartment. You must have been away from the table when my fiance and I stopped by. He bought your last large Skyline print. We live right across the street from it so it will be perfect if we ever move away.
