In the next few months, the yellow pants stayed on my mind. I occasionally saw them on stylish girls online, and once or twice spotted people wearing them on the street. Everytime they caught my eye, I was filled with remorse and regret. Why did I let the yellow pants slip away? What was I thinking? Why couldn't I look past my prejudice and see how much I could come to love them? (note: I might be exaggerating my emotional response slightly for greater dramatic impact. Isn't it better this way?)
Which brings us to a few weeks ago, after I had long given up on the yellow pants (but still remembered them fondly). What did I spy on the $4.99 pants rack at the Hebron Gap Outlet? The yellow pants! And in my size! The only pair in the store! It was meant to be. After a year apart, the two of us were united, together forever.
Except...now I'm not sure how to style them. Yes, my original concern has proven true, although I can handle a mustard skirt, bright yellow pants have proven to be more of a challenge. Do you think this happened to Elizabeth Bennett, too? After the double wedding, did Darcy turn out to be obnoxiously prideful? I sure hope not.
So anyway, here are the yellow pants, worn with a collection of neutrals. I think it worked better in real life than it looks in the photos, but it definitely wasn't a home run. I would love to hear your opinions on this one - how would you style up the yellow pants?

LOVE yellow and gray! Those pants are fabulous!
I have those pants! I got them on the sale rack last year, but I think they were $10 so I deemed them too cheap to pass up.
Looks good! In general I would steer away from brown, and more towards greys. Brown with yellow or orange can just look super 70s.
I say wear them with a color! Soft pink or blue or purple!
ooh that outfit is so cute it hurts. also, your comparison to pride and prejudice made me LOL. hehe :-P
Um, I LOVE and covet your lovely yellow cords! I've been scouring local thrift stores looking for the perfect pair. Nothing so far, but I'm not giving up! You styled them well and you look lovely!
love those pants! I also like the different textures in the sweater, shirt and cords. Awesome!
I also looove the wall behind you!
Looking fab! Have the same shoes - love them!
oh i love these yellow pants!!!! you look so great - esp with those moccassins!!
I think it looks great on you...I always love wearing yellow with a bit of blue! I really like how it looks with your hair. Adorably written post...as I adore Pride and Prejudice! Hearts, janna lynn
that color is glorious!
I really like the way it looks with the gray.
the yellow pants are really great looking, because they arent like lemon yellow.. but like sunny yellow! ;d
I like how oyu styled them! Perhaps wear them with a plaid shirt and leather knee boots and a blazer over top.
Love the yellow pants..i love yellow with navy blue and a tiny bit of red xx
I think they look great together! I think the neutral colors mesh well!
I LOVE Pride and Prejudice and loved that you made the reference to it! Haha :)
Wow! I adore the yellow pants. You pulled together a very interesting looking outfit. The neutrals play well with the bright yellow pants, and give them the room to shine. Glad you were finally able to get them. You look great :D
Ha ha! Love the Pride and Prejudice reference!
The yellow pants are cute! Maybe if you wore boots over them that would be cute-- especially if you're worried about too much yellow.
I love how you styled them, I really want some but I doubt I would ever be brave enough to actually wear them...
Love this ensemble. I have the same Minnetonkas and wear them basically everyday in the winter.
love your pants!
I love yellow and grey together. That shade would also look good with navy blue and red like someone mentioned above (love that color combo), or with a deep dark teal/peacock blue.
LOVE those yellow pants with moccasins which by the way look sooo comfortable!

Love these! I (having a closet FULL of prints) would pair these with any floral, plaid or striped print you have!! Treat the yellow just as you would the blue of your denim. You will find it goes well with just about anything.
I love, love, love your hair and pants!! Super cute!

Wow, what are the chances?
I guess I would style them with gray, like you did. Maybe try a black belt instead of a brown one...
I actually own a very similar pair of yellow cords from Old Navy. I usually wear mine with grey or grey and purple. A shirt I have that goes really well with them is grey with purple and red flower print. I love how you styled yours!
those pants are incredibly amazing!
YOU LOOK AMAZING!
navy gingham shirt, tweed blazer, simple white tank, denim blazer? Or if you're feeling a little crazy, try pink!

It took me a second to process that there is only one Hebron Gap outlet. Then I realized we're from the same area! I always get so excited when I find awesome Cincinnatians! I'm the intern over at Red Velvet right now, but I go to UC and I'm from nky! YAY!
I love the look, and I think you styled them really well. I'd probably use a different colour belt, but I still love the whole look.
not many peeps can pull the yellow off Alli, but you smashed it! Fabulous! The colour of your hair is so pretty too.
