My very unwelcome cold is still hanging around (hence the pouty face), and I just couldn't bring myself to put on anything but old comfy jeans this morning. I decided to dress them up a bit for teaching by doing the classic professor combo of jeans+oxford shirt+blazer. Obviously, my usual style is pretty feminine, but lately I've enjoyed playing with clothes that are a little tomboyish. The blazer was my big thrift score of the weekend (and pretty much the only thing I found - it wasn't a good thrifting weekend, otherwise); it's a gorgeous charcoal grey wool, originally from Banana Republic. I found it on the 99 cent rack, and paid 75 cents with my student discount. Not too shabby!
Okay, I'm going to settle in with a cup of tea, a warm blanket, and a giant stack of papers to grade. I hope you are having a good Wednesday!

I can never find a nice quality blazer with a good fit while I'm thrifting--yours is perfect!
classic blazer, what a score! and the red shoes are a fabulous punch of color. hope you feel better soon!
I really like this outfit. Great shoes!
Love the outfit!! Hope you Feel better soon!!
Hope you feel better, soon! Your grandma had excellent taste, by the way.
Banana for 75 cents-I didn't think that was possible!! Did you know BR stuff made in the last 6 or 7 years has a tag on the inside that says which collection it's from? I love that. I hope you feel better soon!! :)
Okay, the thrift stores in my area are just terrible! They want $7 for jeans, $5 for plain old shirts, and don't have anything good to begin with. How is it that you find such cool stuff?!?! My compliments!
you are ADORABLE! love them shoes!
Love, Fifty-Seven
I love this outfit, fantastic shoes xx
i love how you're always dressed to cute! so very fun! =)
Great outfit! Here's my question: what style are your jeans? They look great on you, but since Gap changed their styles I can't find 'my' jean. I'm tall and like to shop there because their jeans are usually the proper length.
Also, if it makes you feel better, I live outside Toronto and I have my spring bulbs popping through the snow. Spring is on the way!
Woah - quite the score! When I get something at the thrift store for $5 I feel like I got a good deal.
Love the red flats, so cute!
i love tomboyish! love how a good blazer pulls everything together and red flats, well, that's just awesome all-around. :)
cute! loving the blazer! :)
You look great! I love the contrast between the beads and the blazer!!!!!
Thank you, everyone!
I'll have to check the blazer for that tag, Crystel - thanks for the tip!
Sorry, Lori-Ellen, these pre-date the big Gap jean changeover. I think their new equivalent is the "Real Straight" style. I'm a shorty, though, so I don't have trouble with length. Good luck finding some that work - jeans shopping is so frustrating!
Ok. I'm totally impressed...with your style, your blog (I discovered you through the comment you left on my site) and the fact that you do it all while you're in grad school. My memory of grad school is a bit fuzzy but I'm sure I didn't have that kind of energy. By the way, I LOVE your shoes and that blue mirror in the background! xo
i LOVE red shoes!!!!!!!!!
i love this outfit!
