I'm excited to announce that the second One Pearl Button sew along will begin next week! This time we'll be making the Burdastyle Marie Skirt (a free pattern that you can download and print at home). This is a great project for seamstresses of all levels, even those who have never sewn before. Among other skills, you'll learn how to pleat, place a zipper, and use facings. Plus you'll end up with an adorable skirt!
If you haven't sewn along before, this is how it works: I'll write a post each week taking you through the steps needed to make the skirt, including photos of my process and lots of tips for a successful finished product. The other participants make up a great community for fielding questions, providing support, and correcting me when I mess something up! The Marie Skirt sew along will run for five weeks - from February 22 to March 22, with a new post every Monday. Of course, you're welcome to join in at any time!

I'd be so happy if you'd like to sew along with us! Please sign up by leaving a comment below - I'll be putting together a list of participants so that we can visit each other's blogs and stay updated on how everyone is doing. I've also made a button for this round; grab the code below and paste it into a text widget on your blog if you'd like to display it!

Hooray - this is going to be fun!

Yay, I've been anxiously awaiting this since you announced it last month! I'm so excited! My sewing machine will finally get a workout.
I want to do this even if I am not sure how my chunky legs will look in this skirt...I need some definite garment practice! I need encouragement to go beyond the tiny projects. No blog yet, but I am definitely IN!
ooooo how fun! what a great way to pump up my sewing skills! =)
Oh, and a question: What kind of fabric should I buy for this pattern? I'm not at ALL experienced with sewing clothes, and am allergic to wool...
I can't sew for crap but I am going to try! I have a sewing machine so, hopefully this goes well!
Weeeeeheeee! Just what I needed to kickstart my "get back into sewing" goal. Can. Not. Wait.
I have never sewed an item of clothing before but i would love to join in...really excited now :) xx
Oh I definitely want to sew along!! I haven't made any clothing yet, so this will be a fun test!

I am really going to try to make this!!!
Yes, yes, yes! I have waiting eagerly for this sew-along and I can't wait to begin!
Plus, this time, I will have my brand new crafty blog in english, to be really part of this sewing community! As soon as I'll have it online I'll give you the link!
I've been waiting for this. Such a cute pattern!
Count me in!
I can't wait!!!
Ok, I'm in! Looking forward to it :)
Ooooh ... I'm going to give this a shot! I'm not an expert sewer, but there's only one way to get better, right? :]
Totally count me in!
Sounds like fun!
Yes! Brilliant! :D
This sounds awesome. I'd love to join in!
Sounds fun!!
That skirt is so cute, though I think I'd like to shorten mine a bit...
I have some orange silk left over from a previous project. It would be awesome if there was enough - i'll have to go print out the pattern!
Yay cannot wait!!!! :)
I would love to sew along! What a great idea!
i so wish i could take part in this one! unfortunately, i'm knee deep in grad school work. but i will definitely follow along on your blog...and everyone else who participates. i love this skirt!
I want to do this, but I don't have a sewing machine! Do you think this is too big a project to hand stitch?
Yeah! I am excited about this sew along. I have been wanting to make clothes for awhile now and this seems like an awesome way to start!
Yay count me in!
I would love to participate! I always need more skirts (and more things to sew).
I'm so in! No guarantees about my actual commitment to the project, though. I've got severe project ADD. So far I have found no medication for it.
Yay!! I'm thrilled that so many people are joining in! It's going to be really fun. Sarah G, I'll post more about fabric next week, but if you'd like to start shopping earlier, look for something nice and heavy. You want a fabric that will hold the shape of the pleats. A brocade, heavy suiting, or even something from the upholstery section would be good for this project.
Piccola Samurai - it's so cool that you are starting a crafty blog!!
Cafe Taber - aw, too bad. You can always sew it by following the old posts once you're a little less busy.
Maggie - hmmm...it would be a big project to handstitch. Not impossible, but not easy. I think it depends on how much patience you have! Could you possibly borrow a machine from someone else?
Even though my bag turned out way less than perfect, you know I'll be joining in :-D I hope this one turns out looking like what it's supposed to be too!
My first piece of actual clothing! Count me in.
I would love to sew along! Can't wait. I am new to sewing so this sould be fun.
Yes! I am very excited about this!
oh yes, i would love sew along!! what a cool thing!!
ooh, I'm in! Joining a group will hopefully stop me from doing 90% of it and never finishing! Such a cute pattern!
how fun! I have a newborn, and a 2 year old, but I'm thinking this will be perfect for me since it's spread out over a few weeks. Definitely can't sit down and make something in a couple hours anymore. Can't wait to get started!!!
i'm in! I really need to practice pleating and zippers, so this is perfect for me! xD
I want to join :)
Great!! I'll be putting together a big list of participants and some other fun sew along resources tomorrow (if all goes well). I'll post when they are available!
I'm ready to jump in and try this, though I'm hoping to find ways to make a few adjustments--I'm not sure that style will be so forgiving on these hips! Excitement!
I'm in. Yay!!!
Count me in! Looking forward to it.
Never mind, someone offered to loan me a machine. Yay!
I just started to sew (since Home Economics in middle school!) after Christmas when I got a machine as a gift. I'm really excited about this!
I'll have to see how the next couple weeks work out, but I would love to sew along! That skirt looks super cute :)
Ok I'm joining! I need a new skirt any way! I like the dead lines very doable! Thanks
Im so excited! I've never done a sewalong but this should be a great one!
I just went and got my fabric, I am really excited to try doing a sew along! Thanks
I'd love to sew along! I just tried to sew a skirt, which was a wonderful skill builder but far from perfect. I could use the guidance (and the deadlines!). Count me in.
