Kristen recently asked if I'd post a sewing tutorial to help people get started machine sewing. I've been thinking the idea over, and have come to the conclusion that it would be a lot of fun! It could be a sort of sew-along: we would pick a pattern to use (I think choosing from burdastyle.com would be best, as the patterns are cheap (or free) and readily available), then I could break down the steps with photos and provide my own sewing tips. I would also put a list of everyone who is participating in the sidebar, so that we could keep an eye on each other's progress and help each other through any tough spots. In the end, you'd have more confidence sewing on a machine *and* using a pattern, and you might even pick up a few new friends along the way. Fun, right?

That sounds like fun! I haven't done a sew-along yet. Guess I've been waiting for the right one!
That sounds great! I haven't done a sew-along either, but maybe a sew-along for beginners would be a good fit for me. There are some truly awesome patterns on burdastyle though I sometimes wonder if the whole printing out and taping together of the pieces would be worth the trouble.
I've sewed before but there is nothing more fun than sewing with other people. I would like it.
Yes please :) I always feel pretty rubbish at sewing, so the more excuses I have to do it, the better!

yes! this is exactly the type of thing i've been looking for. and all of your sewing projects are so inspiring! i'm ready to finally put the sewing machine that my aunt gave me to use! count me in!
