Possibilities

Don't you love a bowl of hand-wound balls of yarn? I do - it represents so many possibilities. After a busy, busy weekend, I'm looking forward to settling in on the couch with my yarn and needles to get started on a pair of French Press Felted Slippers for a very special someone on my Christmas list (I'm not telling who!). I hope your Sunday is equally lovely!

Such a pretty bowl of fruit (which is how I like to think of balls of yarn - the pie making is a bit more tricky but definitely worth it!)

I love the photo! And yes, a newly wound ball of yarn is a very special thing. I love that yarn. Will you be revealing to us what it is? It look scrumptious!

I've never learned how to knit. Every tutorial book looks like it is written jibberish. Is there anything you'd recommend to help get me started?

I hope you had a lovely weekend's knitting! Stephanie - I found KnittingHelp.com to be a really useful website when I was getting started - their videos are pretty clear.

I was drawn in by the picture and then I read what you were making with it- yay! Can't wait to see how they turn out!

Stephanie- I always recommend the book: 'The Knitter's Bible' to people learning to knit. It really helped me learn and because it is a few years old you can typically find it on half.com for a couple bucks.

Also, I second the knittinghelp.com recommendation left by drop stitches not bombs, especially if you don't like seeing the jibberish on pages. You can watch videos!

I third the suggestion of KnittingHelp.com. My brain has a hard time comprehending those diagrams in knitting books, so seeing videos is really helpful!

The yarn is Lion Brand Fisherman's Wool - it's inexpensive and I love how natural it looks. The only problem is that it makes my nose itch!

I got through both bottoms of the slippers and three tops while watching the new version of "The Prisoner" last night - it's so fun to knit on such big needles!

Woot! Thank you all so much for the help. I'm looking into it today and look forward to sitting in front of a fire this winter with my new skill!
