Yikes. I gave it a makeover by adding an elastic band at the waist, then chopping off most of the top and hiking the whole thing up to make it empire style and knee length. I finished the bodice with some bias binding and bias binding straps. Ta-da!

I've worn it twice now: once with strappy sandals at the end of summer, and once with a wide leather belt, tights, a cardigan, and boots this fall. Both times I got compliments from both friends and strangers - definitely the sign of a good refashion!

ps. word v = bacon. Surely that's far too real a word to be a random one!
The new dress looks awesome! It is amazing what you can do with a little creativity.
Cute! You probably don't want to know how much I saw a thrifted dress like this go for in what I thought was a thrift store with real shirts, but only had dresses made out of old thrifted shirts!
Thanks, everyone! Larkin - that store sounds really cool. Nate keeps telling me that I should leave grad school and craft full time, haha.
Rhiannon - that is an awesome word verification. I'd take it as a sign to go eat some bacon.
What a keen eye you have for refashion. I love how the dress turned out!
Thanks, Colleen! I'm happy with how it turned out - cute and comfy.
