Exhibit A:

Washcloths. In my defense, I needed something mindless to knit in the car this weekend. Socks aren't mindless (for me at least), and my mom's shawl is on temporary hold until I can get more yarn - one skein didn't end up cutting it. I had some Sugar&Cream in my stash, so I grabbed it on my way out the door and made one and 7/8ths of a washcloth on the way to the conference and back. My sister loves the handknit washcloths I gave her for Christmas, so I think these will be Mother's Day gifts for her.
Exhibit B:

Yes, it's a needle felting kit. No, I really don't need another new craft. Since I am apparently full of excuses today, I will say that I bought it intending to use the needles to fix some of Nate's sweaters, a la this tutorial. Unfortunately, his fine merino sweaters wouldn't felt, so I'll have to resort to stitching. Fortunately, I bought a kit that came with roving, so the needles won't go to waste - I have big plans to make some needle felted goodies. Someday. I hope.
Do any of you ever feel like you can't concentrate on your crafting? What do you think causes it? How do you get past it?
Oh, on a totally unrelated note, jump over to Girl Land and say hello to Sarah - she's got several great contests going on right now!

Ah Craft ADD - I have that too...
I'm being more reserved than usual, but at one stage last year I had two necklaces, an embroidery, AND knitting on the go - and I keep meaning to start crochet.....
xxx
I am definitely ADD with my crafting, but i think that is part of what i enjoy. its one of the few things in life i do only if i want to and only if i am enjoying it so if something strikes my fancy (and i can afford the materials) its fun to just drop everything and start something new!!
For me, I think it starts when I have a perusing-the-craft-blogs kind of day. There are so many cool things to work on! So many creative tutorials to try out! Then I can't just pick one, I want to try them all! Also, if I go into a fabric store, I will come out with at least one new project in mind. So the trick for me seems to be STAY IN THE SEWING ROOM, don't go anywhere else where inspiration might hit (like any other room of your house). :-) Clearly, that's what you need to do, too. Library, schmibrary.
I am very much that way, for a variety of reasons. But the biggest reason is that I'll hit some sort of roadblock in a project that requires help, more supplies or something that I can't get immediately. So, I move on to something else... and forget!
I propably can't concentrate on only one idea. I mean while I 'm making something, I 'm thinking of my next project at the same time. Yikes.
:) I totally do this, too. Usually, it's a result of some sort of dissatisfaction or concern... or maybe I just like having options? Anyway, I totally hear you, I have a dishcloth going, a bag, a neckwarmer, fingerless gloves...
But! I was recently given hope by Interweave Knits - there was a little article on how having lots of projects is healthy; that all the different projects might fulfill different impulses, and therefore perform be able to satisfy a variety of impulses.
I dunno, probably more enabling.
Wow, I can completely relate...
I'm sewing new underwear and pants and oven mitts, baking crafty cakes, paper macheing (spell?) mushrooms and bugs (go figure), and my own art which I have yet to entitle. Every time I see something fun to make, I HAVE to make it - why is that? I am just glad that I'm not alone with this fabulous affliction!
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! Maybe there is something about being creative that makes us want to jump from project to project. I definitely like the idea that having lots going on is healthy, Larkin! Someday I'll have to share my wist - I use it to keep track of projects that I want to try, and it's starting to get ridiculous!
I am totally Craft ADD from time to time. I love the joy and excitement of beginning new projects that I have a billion started. Finishing? Not so much. :)
Wait, you can knit in the car without getting woozy? I get about 20 minutes in and then have to stop or get car sick. Such a bummer.
