Back!

Here I am, home again. I had a good week visiting my wild west family, but I'm happy to be back. Now I'm looking forward to a month of so of uninterrupted home time before hitting the road (or the sky, as it were) again.

I did a bit of crafting on my trip, making coordinating pillowcase-style dresses for my little nieces. They were super easy and turned out adorable, if I do say so myself (of course, the models might have had something to do with the cuteness factor!). Sadly, I don't seem to have any pictures of them. I'll have to see if my mom got any on her camera.

I can share pictures of this project, though. I finished it before my trip (like, moments before), but didn't get a chance to share it here. This is the second veil I've been working on, and the last wedding-related post for awhile (I promise!). This was a MAJOR project and I'm happy with the result. The veil is a bit longer than waist-length, center gathered, ivory tulle with champagne embroidery and teeny-tiny (faux) pearls. I designed the embroidery (swirls and lazy-daises dotted with pearls) to coordinate with the bride's dress and with the wedding location, which is outdoors in a garden. Embroidering on tulle was an entirely new challenge that was way outside of my comfort zone. Because of that, I was really worried about how it was going to turn out, but luckily the bride loves it. Whew!

The embroidery shows up a bit better with flash:

In other news, I just realized that my next post is the big 5-0! I think the occasion should be marked with a giveaway of some sort. Let me think on it and get back to you.

I LOVE when you blog about your veils - don't apologize for it! They're beautiful and such an unexpected thing to have hand-made for one's wedding.

Thanks so much for your nice comments on my blog! What a beautiful veil. Stitching on tulle sounds SUPER difficult but your stitching looks flawless!
